The Chitlin’ Circuit was a collection of performance venues that provided acceptance for African American musicians during the era of racial segregation in the United States through the 1960s. It featured many talented artists such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Duke Ellington, Billy Holiday, and Sam Cook just to name a few.
