Rooster Blackspur: Folk, Roots & Americana

Raised in the Alaskan wilderness and shaped by years spent in the high desert of New Mexico, Rooster Blackspur is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose music blends folk-roots, country rock and soulful Americana. Her commanding voice moves effortlessly between angelic clarity and road-worn grit, carrying songs filled with resilience, loss, reinvention and the untamed spirit of the American West.

Before launching her solo career, Blackspur performed as part of Moody Little Sister from 2010 to 2019. She was named Singer-Songwriter of the Year at the 2021 New Mexico Music Awards and has appeared at the Sisters Folk Festival, Britt Festival, Aladdin Theater, Mile of Music and other venues and festivals across the country.

Now based in Nashville, Blackspur recorded Nashville (The Cinderella Sessions) live at the historic Cinderella Sound Studio with an accomplished group of Nashville musicians, including Charlie McCoy, Bill Cooley and Steve Hinson. Her performances combine powerful original songs, candid storytelling and a magnetic stage presence that turns a concert into a deeply human experience.

Mary’s Poems From Earth album includes “Weight of the World Pt. I & II” — an explicit song about capitalism and the climate crisis.
https://www.maryscholz.com/Kristen Ford is a Sacramento-based singer-songwriter, looping drummer, and labelmate of Ani DiFranco’s on Righteous Babe Records — which is to say, the activist-folk tradition isn’t something she joined; it’s something she’s already inside.

Pete Kronowitt has sung to thousands, including a set at San Francisco’s No Kings rally at Civic Center Plaza. If Steve Earle threw a margarita at Elvis Costello and got pissed enough to write political tunes, they’d sound like Pete Kronowitt songs. Five albums and an EP deep including *Phases of the Heart* (1995, produced by John Alagia of Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer) to the Nashville-recorded *A Lone Voice* (featuring Emmylou Harris’ band). Following in the footsteps of folk singers,
